Wildlife art can be political.

In Shareholders, local Flagstaff artist David Lash invites us to consider the animals who inhabit the Colorado Plateau alongside us, and what their place in our shared landscape might mean as we shape the future of the land.

Through four striking acrylic paintings, Lash portrays wildlife with remarkable sensitivity and quiet power. His animals are not simply subjects to be observed; they become voices in a larger conversation about habitat, development, land use, and our responsibility to the natural world.

Like much of Lash’s work, these paintings ask more questions than they answer. As we continue to develop and alter the landscapes around us to meet our wants and needs, Shareholders ask us to pause and consider those who cannot speak for themselves.
